Knight Riders Stunning Won First match of IPL 2010
In the opening match of Indian Premier League at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Friday 12th March 2010, Shahrukh’s Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Deccan Chargers, by 11 runs.
Through the powerful batting from Angelo Mathews and Owais Shah,Knight Riders got a stunning win of 11 runs over defending champions Deccan Chargers.
Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field. Chasing the target of 162 runs of Kolkata Knight Riders , Deccan Chargers were able to make 150runs for seven in 20 overs.
Among them Adam Glichrist scored the highest of 54 of 35 balls. Charl Langeveldt picked up two wickets while each Ishant sharma, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Angelo Mathews, Brad Hodge and Murali Kartik picked up a single wicket.
Made to bat first, Angelo Mathews scored a marvelous (65 not out) and Owais Shah(58 not out) played a wonderful partnership of 130 runs.
Man of the Match “Angelo” slammed four sixes and five fours in his 46 ball innings.
Owais who had played his last two editions for Delhi Daredevils gave him a good company and went for three sixes and three fours in his 46 ball innings. Their score of 69 runs in the last five overs made Knight Riders to achieve a respectable and competitive score on board.
Though Gilchrist and Laxman (out for 22) was able to give a good start to their team Deccan Chargers ,but the defending champions paid a big price for their poor selection of batsmen.
